How commissions work
30% of what a referred customer actually pays on their first payment, rounded down to the cent, pending for 14 days, then approved. Renewals earn nothing.
Updated
The rate
30% of the Paid Amount: what the customer actually paid on their first payment after any discount, as recorded by Stripe. Rounded down to the whole cent. First payment only; renewals of a referred subscription earn nothing. A referred Lifetime purchase earns at the same rate even though the viewer discount does not apply to it.
| Purchase | List price | Discount | Paid | Your commission |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro monthly, first month, via your link | $3.00 | 30% | $2.10 | $0.63 |
| Pro Lifetime via your link | $39.00 | none | $39.00 | $11.70 |
| Pro monthly renewal, month 2 | $3.00 | none | $3.00 | $0.00 |
Examples assume no sales tax; tax is not part of the Paid Amount.
Statuses
- Pending. Created when the sale completes, with a payable date 14 days later, the refund window.
- Approved. An hourly job moves a commission from pending to approved once the 14 days pass with no refund or dispute.
- Paid. Included in a weekly payout transfer. See Payouts with Stripe Connect.
- Reversed. The payment was refunded, charged back or reversed, or the sale did not qualify. A reversed commission that was already paid may be deducted from later payouts.
What qualifies
The customer was attributed to you (link within 30 days, or your code), it is their first payment to us, the payment succeeded, it is not a self-referral or another prohibited method, and your link or code was active at the time.
Refund-rate suspension
If more than 30% of your qualifying sales in a rolling 90 days are refunded, your link is deactivated automatically and your account flagged for review. We will contact you.
Taxes
Commissions are stated exclusive of tax, and you are responsible for your own. Stripe collects your tax information at payout onboarding. See Taxes for creators.
