Troubleshooting
The circle is not appearing
Check the site switch, the sensitivity preset, the content size rules, the daily limit, and whether the page can be inspected at all. Most missing circles are a threshold, not a bug.
Updated
Work down the list; each step takes seconds.
1. Is the site being scanned?
Open the popup. If it says Not available on this page, the page cannot be inspected: browser pages, PDF viewers, non-http addresses, or slopsquash.com itself. Otherwise check that Extension enabled and Scan this site are both on, and that the site is not on your deny list (or missing from a populated allow list). See The extension is disabled on a site.
2. Is the confidence above your preset?
The default Balanced preset shows circles at 90% confidence. Much AI content scores lower, especially text and stripped images with no cached classifier result. Switch to Lenient (70%) in the popup and scroll again. The popup's AI and Uncertain counts tell you whether anything scored at all. See Sensitivity presets.
3. Is the content big enough, and visible enough?
Text under 40 characters and images under 96 by 96 pixels are skipped. The circle waits until the post is 60% visible, then 700 milliseconds more. Scroll slowly past the post and give it a moment.
4. On-device only?
With on-device only mode on, only writing patterns and same-origin provenance run, so most images never get a signal. Turn it off to compare.
5. Daily limit reached?
Free accounts get 400 server-side detections per rolling 24 hours (signed-out users a per-IP limit). Past that, network checks return rate-limit answers and only on-device checks paint circles. See Daily limit reached.
6. Is the content inside something the extension cannot read?
Closed shadow roots, sandboxed frames without scripts, canvases, audio and inline SVG illustrations are not inspected. A sandboxed frame gets a neutral marker saying it could not be inspected.
7. Is the site supported?
Nine sites have dedicated adapters; everything else uses a generic one that needs recognisable article, list or comment markup. See Supported sites and, if a site should work and does not, Report a site.
8. Reload
Sites that load content in unusual ways sometimes need a reload after the extension is installed or updated. In the options page, Clear cache clears the session memo of verdicts.
